We are strong believers here at Col Jones that swimming is a lifelong skill. A new landmark report has just been released which reveals the benefits of swimming stretch across all age groups. The benefits of swimming are certainly not limited to children. Swimming is an invaluable activity for improving heart health, bone strength and lung capacity, as well as lowering blood pressure and reducing joint pain. According to The Health and Wellbeing Benefits of Swimming Report (2017), commissioned by Swim England, people who swim either recreationally or competitively are eight times more likely to meet physical activity guidelines than their non-swimming peers. In the study of over 80,000 people “research has identified that any amount of swimming participation compared to those who engaged in none, was associated with a 28% and 41% reduction in all cause and cardiovascular disease cause mortality respectively,” the report revealed. We encourage all our swimmers to continue to swim past the ‘learn to swim’ stage as the key findings of the report suggest. Our program offers competitive and non-competitive squads in addition to dedicated times for public lap swimming. For adults wanting to start their swimming journey, we offer adult classes in which our swimmers achieve remarkable results. Contact us today! AuthorJosephine Moss.
